Reflection: when energy is incident upon a surface(aka boundary between two different media), then some/all of the energy 'bounces' back into the original medium.
The Law of reflection
- The angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence.
- Take light for example. The light is incident before it is reflected? (I may have heard Dr Waters wrong, take the converse)
Wave Behaviours
Energy incident upon a surface is:
- Reflected
- Absorbed
- Transmitted (goes through the object)
Not an "or, or, or", usually a combination of these things.
Materials can be classified as:
- Opaque
- Transparent
- Transluscent
Depending on the extent that light can be transmitted through them.
