this is a subset of butanone vs butan-2-one => iupac says butan-2-one better? weirdchamp => lucarelli says butanone - This is correct. As Norrie says, don't write the number if you dont have to

is benzene saturated or unsaturated

at what length of the chain (pent, hex) does disp. become favourable? and to which amounts of hydrogen bond capacities? i.e. if 1 bond is 6, if 2 bond, is 12?

IF it's one mole of alkane, and one mole of $Cl_2$, does only one substitution reaction happen? Likewise, if its two moles of each, does two happen?

• No. Doesn't happen all at once, so some are produced, which have the chance of accepting another $Cl$.

For substitution/addition reaction with halogens observations:

• Benzenes, alkenes, DO NOT react
  • Benzene is unsaturated, but it does not react generally.
• Alkenes will rapidly decolourise (halogens in sol. or in liquid are usually coloured)

Small tidbit

• Hydroxylbenzene or benzenol?
• This is asking whether either the phenyl or hydroxyl takes priority.
• Can be either. e.g. Either hydroxylbenzene, benzenol, phenol (old).
  • Benzenol preferred

Is the "1,2" in hexane-1,2,-dioic acid necessary?
