It would seem that, for the most part, the majority of the work I do for school assessments is within the first few days before the actual assessment. In other words, I tend to cram. And cramming is not great. Cramming leads to stress, and is probably just an innately bad strategy. Damn, now I sound like that person on the powerpoint and the presentation thing in advo. Anyways, cramming bad.
Week before the chem cap, the investigation and extended response handouts were released. I downloaded them.
Friday of that week. I did one titration calculation test.
Monday: I did nothing.
Tuesday: I did 2 titration tests, with Pranav in class.
Wednesday: I crammed the entirety of the content in a night. I actually did the questions on the handout.
Note this is roughly what I remember. It may not be true. Pranav will probably correct me if he ever reads this.
Clearly not that great. But what about an assessment I've known about for a longer duration?
🆎solute w i got 89.5 (bottom quartile of the class(w(better than listening(funny box and whiskers plot))))
I did not touch the script on the holidays.
Two weeks before the assessment (wk 2 wednesdayish), Ms Li finishes fixing our draft.
I didn't start till Monday.
While I intended to spend around 3 hours on it every night (i had the time), i think realistically i spent up to 30 minutes on it a night till Friday.
The majority of the memorisation happened on the weekend. Not fun.
This is not to flex or something. I'm not trying to say I can do well even though I'm cramming. That's simply not the point. I'm just supply data to back up my analysis of the aforementioned "emerging pattern".
I have an idea in mind.
As of now, I'm not sure whether I'm going to like set a specific time in stone. But I intend to do 2 hours of work(revision, study) every day. Probably more on the weekends, specifically Sunday since its the most free.
I might even like play jigsaw with my commitments and see if I can arrange my weekend to be even free'er(thank to l sai).
Furthermore, I will try to track this, using an app I heard of from one of the uh wace tips and tricks thingmabobs called Forest. I love the environment. I love trees. They taste delicious.
But, I'm quite a lazy person. I tend to struggle to cultivate positive habits such as this.
So I may need your help.
But oh well, that's for future me to think about. Right now I'm going to try this out and see how well I do.
Recently, I've been feeling quite happy. It's quite hard to verbalise or quantify this change, but I think its best summarise as having a weight of one's shoulders. I think the extent to which the people you surround yourself with can influence your own emotions is quite surprising. So, speaking from experience, you should try and reduce any negative influences on your life. Maybe pay attention to the people around you more. Observe how they interact and deal with you and others. Try and see, qualify, and label their personality.
And if you find yourself in conflict with anyone's identity, maybe talk to them less. :)
